Prescription drug use for nonprescribed reasons is rising at an alarming rate. Here in Montana it is getting as big as the meth problem that the country is facing.

I found this pill identifier at http://www.rxlist.com/pill-identification-tool/article.htm and have checked some prescriptions i have for my back pain. it came up with the correct pill using the imprinted markings on the pill themselves. A good example would be to go to this site and use this imprint. M366 is for hydocodone-apap. This is a generic pain med for Lortab. Dentists would prescribe this for tooth removal and surgeries that they perform.

Check it out and find out what your kids are getting into. Make sure to confront them but be informed and be willing to have a 2 way conversation not just a scream at them and they tune you out conversation.

Can’t vs Won’t

Ever wondered if the person you are dealing with can’t or wont do something you asked them to do many times over? For kids with FAS/FASD – Fetal Alcohol Syndrome / Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder it could be either. FAS has many different effects and some people have all or some of them. I attended a seminar at the local United Way on 6/5/2008 and i was very impressed by the presentation. The woman giving the presentation has parented over 150 kids through foster care and is currently parenting 2 kids with FAS and 2 with FASD. Learning what people with FAS and FASD go through on a daily basis is a humbling experience to say the least. The constant frustrations and issues that they deal with due to something not of their own doing makes me saddened.

i found a good informational site that provides a good overview of what FAS/FASD is and symptoms of such . The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is a government agency that takes interest in such issues and is determined to help prevent them from occurring.

Montana and Meth

Montana has a unique way of dealing with the Meth epidemic afflicting mostly the western US. Montana Meth project offers a glimpse into the problems and what is being done to combat this problem.

PBS Meth Epidemic is a free video that i personally recommend everyone watch atleast once. The effects of meth on a person are almost enough to make a non user sick. The changes in the mind state of a person let alone the open scabs from picking at “bugs” make people look more like a poor beaten shell of a person.

Meth makes people change. Honest straight A students will start stealing anything they can get their hands on to sell to buy more meth. Selling of ones body ( not just their own but that of friends as well ) is also common place. a lack of desire to make themselves attractive is also a side effect due to the lack of care about appearance.

Please if you have any information about a meth lab or even someone selling it contact the sheriff’s office and please have details about when and where. Any information you can provide will help to stop this problem in the state. Remember when supplying information you can remain totally anonymous and please please please remember to watch out for yourself. Gathering information is best dealt with by professionals in the law enforcement community. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER to get information. Doing so can get you killed.

To summarize
1. get informed. know what is out there and what signs to look for.
2. give law enforcement any information you might have.
3. STAY SAFE a dead hero is just that a dead hero.
