Ever wondered if the person you are dealing with can’t or wont do something you asked them to do many times over? For kids with FAS/FASD – Fetal Alcohol Syndrome / Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder it could be either. FAS has many different effects and some people have all or some of them. I attended a seminar at the local United Way on 6/5/2008 and i was very impressed by the presentation. The woman giving the presentation has parented over 150 kids through foster care and is currently parenting 2 kids with FAS and 2 with FASD. Learning what people with FAS and FASD go through on a daily basis is a humbling experience to say the least. The constant frustrations and issues that they deal with due to something not of their own doing makes me saddened.
i found a good informational site that provides a good overview of what FAS/FASD is and symptoms of such . The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is a government agency that takes interest in such issues and is determined to help prevent them from occurring.
I hope this has been interesting and something that you will take to heart in your everyday life. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.

I am the adoptive parent of two children with FASD and I write a lot about our journey on my blog. Thanks for helping to raise awareness about this very invisible disability through your blog. ~Kari

Kevin,
I am a birth mother af an ARND 8yro boy. Yes, this disability is sad and invisible. Thank you for posting about it and caring. This issue is kept in the closet due to the stigma it all to often carries. Help, understanding, training, and world wide acknowledgement is what it will take for this disability to be heard and helped and stopped. The light needs to shine for these individuals. Thank you, Pam
